File Explorer

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how LayerDevs (“we”, “us”, or “our”) processes information when a Shopify merchant installs or uses File Explorer (the “App”).

1. Information the App accesses

File Explorer requests the Shopify permissions needed to provide its current functions: reading files, writing files when a merchant initiates a file action, and reading products to identify supported file usage references.

The App can process file identifiers, filenames, preview URLs, content types, file sizes, timestamps, file status, product usage references, and virtual organization metadata created by the merchant.

The App does not request Shopify customer or order scopes and is not designed to collect customer records.

2. Information collected directly

We may receive support messages and contact details that a merchant voluntarily provides. Our infrastructure may also generate limited technical logs such as request time, error details, and operational identifiers used to secure, diagnose, and maintain the App.

3. How information is used

  • Authenticate the merchant’s Shopify store and provide App functionality.
  • Display and organize Shopify files through vFolders.
  • Generate exports and downloadable backup archives requested by the merchant.
  • Diagnose failures, secure the service, and respond to support requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations and Shopify platform requirements.

4. Storage and service providers

File Explorer runs on Cloudflare infrastructure. Authentication sessions, job state, resource scan state, export manifests, and requested archives may be processed through Cloudflare services. vFolder mappings are stored as app-managed Shopify metaobjects in the merchant’s store.

We do not sell merchant or customer information and do not use store files for advertising.

5. Retention and deletion

Temporary download archives are retained only for the availability period displayed in the App. Backup archives and related task metadata remain available according to the App’s displayed controls and retention settings, or until deletion is requested.

After uninstall, Shopify sends mandatory privacy webhooks. When a valid store-redaction request is received, the App removes the store’s sessions, task state, scan state, export manifests, downloads, and backup objects from App-controlled storage.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted HTTPS transport, Shopify OAuth, signed webhook verification, scoped access permissions, and access-controlled infrastructure.

7. Merchant choices and rights

Merchants can remove vFolder metadata, delete eligible task records and archives from the App, uninstall the App, or contact us to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.

8. International processing

Information may be processed in countries where our infrastructure providers operate. Those locations may have different data protection laws from the merchant’s jurisdiction.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when the App, our data practices, or applicable requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.

10. Contact

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to privacy@layerdevs.com.
